Baby Bump Diary: Week 19
What's Up With Little B
- About 6"/15cm long
- Weighs about 9oz/240g
- Sprouting hair on the scalp
- Nerve cells for each sense (taste, touch, smell, hearing, sight) are developing their specialized areas in the brain
The news this week isn't very fun at all. My boob started leaking. It's not much, just a little dime sized spot on my shirt. I wasn't sure if this was normal so early in my pregnancy, so I phoned my doctor. Turns out I'm totally normal, it means my colostrum has come in. The leaky boob could also be a good sign, signifying that my body will be good at producing milk.
Most women won't experience this until the end of their pregnancy or after they give birth. I guess I'm just blessed to have wet t-shirts so early on, lol.
What is colostrum?
A pre milk that has a high concentration of antibodies and proteins that protect a baby from illness and acts as a laxative to jump start the baby's digestive system in the first few days after birth.
It's been really really really cold here in the not so far great white north. Meaning exercise was almost non existent the past week. Tisk tisk Krystal. So, this week I'm going to head to the pool for some aquacise, an excellent exercise for pregnant women.
Despite the lack of exercise I've felt really good all week. Nothing to report out of the ordinary.
The past week has been all about fluids for me. I've been very thirsty. In addition to water I've started adding teas back into my diet to spice things up a bit and keep me warm. (I just couldn't stomach tea in the first trimester). Stay tuned for a posting on the best teas to drink during pregnancy later in the week.
Preparing for Baby
I haven't done much to little B's room since last week. This week I plan to dig an old book shelf out of the basement and see what I can do about restoring it for little B's book collection. Yes he/she already has one. When I'm in the consignment stores I just can't help myself. I'm so excited to read my little one bedtime stories.
I started to list some jobs I would like to finish before little B arrives. There are many things I would like to tidy and organize in the house and I found the perfect app to help me organize my list. "Things" is the best task manager ever. It is available for your mac, iPhone, and iPad. The app also has a cloud that allows you to integrate seamlessly among your devices. Happy organizing!
