Baby Bump Diary: Week 20
What's Up With Little B
- About 6.5"/16.5cm long
- Covered in "vernix caseosa" protecting skin from the long stay in the amniotic fluid
- Baby is swallowing more, practicing up for digestion
- Actually swallowing the amniotic fluid, absorbing the water, and the rest is excreted by the large bowel
- Iron is super important right now so little B can make red blood cells
I'm halfway there!
This week marks the half way point in my pregnancy and I'm so excited, the day little B arrives is coming fast.
We had our second ultrasound this week and little B has all organs, digits, and limbs. So far it looks like I'm going to have a healthy little baby. My only concern is little B likes to have his/her feet by my cervix. I know the baby will move around lots between now and the 9th month, but I'm going to ask my doctor to keep an eye on this anyways.
I am also very proud of myself, I didn't ask to find out the sex of little B, so it's going to be a big surprise in July! Funny thing though, little B's legs were crossed throughout the whole ultrasound anyways, it doesn't seem like my little baby wants us to know either ;)
Was a great week for exercise, Mr. B, Koda (our puppy), and I all headed out to the mountains for a hike and picnic over the weekend. Finally the weather was great, we were +15°C over the weekend - yay! So, the hike was amazing and fun. I didn't make it to the pool only because my swimsuits no longer fit, I will be shopping for a new one soon.
As usual I felt great all week, not much to report.
I had a good eating week, eating 3 square meals and lots of snacks throughout the day. Because iron is so important right now in my pregnancy I'm going to tell you all a little about iron this week, so stay tuned!
Preparing For Baby
I will be heading to my Mom's next week for a much needed visit and we will be going to the states for some shopping. She lives right on the boarder. I've prepared a list of things I want to get for little B and myself. I'm excited to take advantage of the good exchange rate and cheaper prices in the US.
It really has been tough making all these purchasing decisions for the baby. Mr. B and I are minimalists and there are so many baby options out there they will make your head spin. Keep checking back, because this week or next week I'm going to post my guide to shopping for baby.
