Baby Bump Diary: Week 28
What's Up With Little B
- Little B is about 14.8"/38cm long and weighs around 2.3 pounds
- Little B now has a layer of fat under his/her skin which provides more energy, so little B is more of a gymnast than before
- Little B's kicks are starting to get much stronger
Today marks my first day of the third trimester. I'm in the home stretch and starting to get excited to meet little B. I can't believe how quickly the time flies.
Little B has started hiccuping over the last week which feels pretty neat.
The weather teased us Calgarians over the last week. We had 3 days if nice warm sunny short wearing weather. Then the weekend came and BOOM! Mother Nature decided it was a good time for 1 foot of snow. The snow is gone now, but the dreary winter weather put me in a bit of a funk. I forced myself to get out walking for little B.
There has been a few nights when it's been tough to sleep. I became a lighter sleeper throughout my pregnancy and baby B's kicks are strong enough to wake me. I'm experiencing some aches and pains as well, making it hard to get comfortable. To help I am now taking magnesium just before bed, it makes a world of difference.
Aches, pains, and insomnia have me focusing in eating magnesium containing foods this week to help my muscles relax.
I also started to enjoy salads again, yay. Before I became preggers I ate salad all the time and I'm so happy to have them back in my diet.
Preparing For Baby
My mom in law visited over the weekend and brought bins full of baby clothes that she purchased from my hubby's brother. They were all boy clothes. I sorted through them and kept enough clothing that I won't have to buy much until my baby turns 2. (If the baby is a boy). There were also many neutrally colored clothes that I could use for boy or girl. So good news, I don't need to worry about buying many items if clothing for little B.
She also made us receiving blankets and a quilt. They are beautiful and soft, I am so grateful :)
I took the time to organize all little B's things in the nursery and I'm happy to say we really don't need much more. I am taking a minimalist approach to baby stuff and happy to be. Little B's closet is full. I couldn't imagine purchasing all those unnecessary items and trying to store them.
It has been another pretty good week of pregnancy. I'm so pumped to be in the home stretch and I'm getting anxious to meet my baby.
I hope everyone enjoyed the guest postings on the blog over the last week. I loved reading each women's story and realizing that pregnancy is a completely different experience for everyone. I hope these stories have helped you to embrace pregnancy and settle any fears you may have.
